Week 3

Emma & Baby Victoria (my old doll) - about the same size

Emma sitting in chair - outfit from BB

Pretty ring from Courtney

Emma loves her changing table!! Especially the picture of Maggie (the picture is of Maggie holding a sign around her neck of 'we are having a girl' from the day we found out

S Swinging

We are starting to get more into a routine at this point. Emma loves her walks and the fresh air (we think she just really loves her bassinet)....our stroller is a pram so we are using for her to sleep in as well! Our friend, Kate, loaned us her daughter, Lillian's, swing and bouncy seat...and have been putting Emma in her swing and bouncy seat. My new goal every day at this point, is to take a shower! So it helps give me an extra hand.... Emma also loves her changing table! It completely calms her down if she is fussy. She is most happy there..I think loves looking around, looking at the picture of Maggie (she loves it b/c it is black and white)....

Emma, Me, Court & Maggie

It's a GIRL!!

Court, Emma & I arrived back at our house and was greeted by our good friend, Kate Parke, who met us to take pictures of our arrival. So we are thankful to her, as we have all the great pictures of our new family. It was a GORGEOUS day, mid 70s and sunny! Maggie was so excited meeting Emma...and was very interested in her (thankfully!). We took Emma on a walk in her new stroller! Emma loves her stroller, and the walks... Many of our neighbors came out to meet Emma! It was such a wonderful day.......... Needless to say, the night was not so good...the three of us barely slept a wink! We had our first doctor appointment early the next morning, and had a good check up. Emma had already gained 3 oz since we left the hospital! Already, a good eater...even if it was through a syringe! That next day, SuSu came down to stay with us the remainder of the week since Court had to go back to work. She was SUCH a big help! Emma and SuSu became roommates for the week, and my mom would bring Emma to me in the night when she was ready to eat. Emma pretty much from the start was eating every three hours. We had a wonderful first week at home, and had lots of visitors and wonderful friends who all brought up good dinners!

Hospital Stay

Me and Emma - first day

Emma & Daddy sound asleep
Right after delivery

SuSu & Bop with Emma

Court, Nana & Emma

We had such a nice stay at Rex, our hospital. We had so many visitors, family and friends all came to meet our girl. Courtney was able to take off 4 days and was able to stay with us in the hospital. Which was SO nice! He had a big reclining chair, so he at least had a good nights sleep! The pediatricians that came from our practice all gave great reports for Emma. They all were amazed with how calm, and alert she was. She really is such a good baby. We had some trouble with breast feeding, and for the first week I had to actually pump and then feed Emma through a syringe. By the end of the week, she was taking to me thankfully! One thought I kept on having, was pure amazement with how beautiful Emma is and how much happiness she already brought in our lives.

Emma's Arrival - March 7th

contraction time!!
emma is almost here!!

our sweet girl has arrived!

daddy is in love, ALREADY!

so is mommy........ she is just so beautiful!

On Saturday, March 6th, my contractions with Emma started...although, I did not know I was actually in labor! Boy, I hardly slept the night before a wink as I was so excited to meet Emma and wanted her to come soon! I went on walk after walk, and was having contractions throughout the day. Poor Maggie was probably exhausted from all the long walks! Courtney & I went to the hospital at 7:30pm, and called our parents to come to the hospital. By 9:30, I was in active labor and it all jump started! I tried twice to have an epidural, although neither worked....except my left leg (thigh down) went numb. Real helpful, huh? So needless to say, I felt everything!!! I only had to push a few times thankfully, and Emma was born! WOW...talk about EMOTIONS! Both of us were overcome with so much joy, and automatically fell in LOVE with our sweet Emma Bailey! She was born at 3:14 am, 7 pounds 1 oz, and 21.5 inches long. Our parents, and Dana, joined us about an hour after Emma was born. It was the most special and happy time in our lives.........
